How many times did you hit the snooze this morning? How about this week? If you do regularly hit the snooze button, you’re not alone. In a Withings survey of almost 20,000 people, about half of all respondents admitted to hitting the snooze button at least one time most mornings. Although you shouldn’t feel too bad if you’re a snoozer… you still might feel tired.
Hitting the snooze might provide some immediate satisfaction — like staying in your warm bed instead of heading to the office for another nine minutes, duh — but it can also throw off your sleep cycle and result in lower quality awake time. According to the Division of Sleep Medicine at Harvard Medical School, “Keeping a regular sleep schedule—even on weekends—maintains the timing of the body’s internal clock and can help you fall asleep and wake up more easily.” Whether you would like to form better sleeping habits, or are trying to stick to your pre-work fitness routine – there is an alarm that takes the ‘you variable’ out of the equation. Enter the BedBud Alarm.
AtLast Industries is launching its crowdfunding campaign to produce the BedBud – an alarm that can’t be turned off until you get out of bed. With sensors that slide under your mattress and a bluetooth controlled hub, the BedBud alarm will not turn off unless you literally get out of bed. And — perhaps the best part of all — the alarm will continue if you try to crawl back into those comfy sheets. From the website’s setup directions, “All you have to do is slide [the BedBud] under your mattress, calibrate it to the bed’s and your weight, set your daily alarm schedule, and you’re ready to start your day on your own terms.”
If you are anything like Don Rhoads — the owner of AtLast Industries — and want to cure your addiction to the snooze button, check out the Kickstarter Campaign to be first in line for a BedBud. It could be the game changer you’re looking for. On the other hand, though, you could just hit the snooze and check it out later…
